It all depends on how well you take care of it. Keeping it clean and letting it dry before storing will extend the life of your guard. It is recommended that you replace your NeoMorph Mouthguard® every 12 months.

NeoMorph is sized for ages 11+. It is designed to hold in securely and cover all teeth to midway of the second molars. We do not currently make a junior version  because young children generally have quite a shallow palate and this causes a concern with retention.  If we can determine a way to over come this, then that may change in the future. Rest assured that we will only release a mouthguard that will offer excellent benefits.

Absolutely! NeoMorph was initially developed as a mouthguard for athletes undergoing orthodontic treatment. It is however, our recommendation that you check with your orthodontist to ensure they are comfortable with you wearing a NeoMorph prior to fitting.

To remould your NeoMorph simply place the guard in hot water to soften a little and refit as per the initial instructions. As the fit of NeoMorph is generally pretty snug you may only look to “tweek” a section or loosen it slightly. If that is the case then simply place that section in the warm water for 20 seconds and refit. If NeoMorph is not left in your mouth for 1 minute to finalise the fit it may tighten a little. If it feels too firm, place the entire guard in hot water for 20 seconds and refit – but try not to suck in so much this time!

Generally speaking, most athletes will only wear a top mouthguard but this is a personal choice. It will be a mouthful to wear a guard on the top and bottom but for some sports, it may be necessary. Research shows us that the most likely teeth affected in an impact are the top front 4 teeth but there are many variables to consider – the type of sport you play, the probable impact you receive and the position of your teeth. For a person with their lower teeth sitting forward in a protruding jaw, it may be a preference that these teeth are covered as they are more likely to be the first point of impact. Different types of impacts require different methods in reducing the energy being transmitted to teeth. This is were NeoMorph shines……we developed NeoMorph as a mouthguard that will both absorb and disperse impact energy so we could protect for as many sport bases as possible.

NeoMorph was designed as a mouthguard that will absorb and disperse impact energy to protect your teeth and the supporting structures for a wide range of sports. If you receive an impact to the mouth there is a chance that your gums may be affected but just imagine how affected they would be without the protection. Unless it is an extreme type of impact, soft tissues damage is generally not permanent and heals quite quickly – the same cannot be said for injuries to teeth. Rest assured though, just as NeoMorph protects by spreading the impact over more teeth, soft tissue damage is also likely to be less concentrated.

No – you cannot trim the NeoMorph Mouthguard. NeoMorph is designed to cover to the first molar (and possibly the middle of the second molar) of an adult or person wearing orthodontic appliances. It is a trilaminate mouth guard which means that it has 3 layers. The NCore® layer (middle layer) needs to be completely encapsulated by the outer layer. If the guard is trimmed it may expose this layer which could effect performance. We offer an Authentic Dental Warranty which will become void if the guard is trimmed. Review our fitting instructions for more information on ways to improve the fit. Our Prodigy range is not recommended for children under 11 years old.

Yes, this is normal. You may find small air bubbles at specific locations in your NeoMorph Mouthguard and very occasionally there may be a slight colour difference. This is due to the manufacturing process and will not affect performance. Please be assured that the NeoMorph Mouthguard is a premium product and every mouthguard is assessed prior to release. While some may have a slight difference in appearance this will not affect performance – your NeoMorph Mouthguard will perform and protect as intended. If however, you notice that the NCore™ (internal layer) is exposed, please contact us for a replacement.

No, we do not recommend our mouthguard or any mouthguard that has a mouldable bite pad to be used as a night-guard. Our dental background tells us that a night-guard should have a hard, flat, non-mouldable surface so that your teeth cannot bite, lock or occlude into position. This is very different from the recommendation for an athletic mouthguard. A bite pad on an athletic mouthguard is recommended to aid in occlusal balance and can potentially aid in performance.

To clarify, NeoMorph has a mouldable bite pad and for that reason, it is not recommended for use as a night-guard. We do have plans to develop a night guard so…… watch this space!

This is a highly research area and whilst there is some debate about the reduction in “tooth on tooth impact” when wearing a mouthguard, there is little correlation to that extending to reduced brain movement. This is a common misconception and to date there has not been any conclusive evidence that suggests it is otherwise.

If we consider what causes a concussion it makes it easier to understand. The skull, contains the brain which is surrounded by fluid. This fluid is to cushion the brain from light impact. We receive a concussion when our skull is impacted so forcefully that our brain pushes against the inside of our skull. This collision causes chemical changes in the brain and sometimes stretches and damages our brain cells. When we receive an impact of this magnitude we are hopeful that our mouthguard will protect our teeth from damage and assist in other ways, but a mouthguard will not prevent our brain from hitting the side wall of our skull.
